What? Volvo is taking a resolved stance on liability of self-driving cars, saying it "will accept full liability whenever one of their cars is in autonomous mode."
Volvo takes responsibility for their autonomous cars' crashes in an attempt to enable rapid uptake of their future technology path.
So what? Car manufacturers are moving from selling cars as products to mobility as a service. The issue of who is liable for misbehaving autonomous robots will become an increasingly important legal and regulatory area in the future.
