North American Linkages

This project focused on trade, investment and related economic issues. It also looked at social and labour market issues. Additional research concentrated on:

  • the costs and benefits of tariff-related measures (rules of origin, a possible common external tariff, and/or a customs union);
  • the emergence of cross-border economic regions;
  • skills research, especially regarding highly qualified personnel;
  • the importance of services and the trade in services; and,
  • Canada-US regulatory co-operation.
